Seth came in on August 3. We got a hotline call about a young fox hanging around a neighborhood in So Glens Falls, skinny, and doing circles. I sent someone down to pick him up and just as she got there he was "tapped" by a car. She was able to scoop him up and bring him in. Turns out he had an old injury to the jaw which healed, we're guessing the head trauma & jaw injury were caused at the same time and he's been scraping for food since then.

August 11
He was ravenous when he came in and ate well.  The vet thought that the jaw injury alone might render him non-releasable, as it is likely to give him dental problems. With the head trauma still fairly severe, it's a likely conclusion that his only future is as an ed animal. That's assuming the head trauma clears or improves to a point where he's got an acceptable quality of life and he can adjust to captivity.

He was with me until August 21, then he went to my friend Nancy. Here he is Sept 17, back with me, and in a larger cage.  He's almost full grown now and quite a beauty.

Release day came for Smoky, Bandit & Luke on August 17.  Here Luke is on the left looking at Smoky, Bandit has just fled.

So, are you coming?

and off they went!

Punky and the gang went to the Raccoon Palace on August 17, to be released in a week or two.

They explored the cage while Karen's babies looked on.
